WHO ARE TRAVEL PLACES?

Travel Places are a family owned travel company based in Worthing on the South Coast. Just by coincidence we are only 10 minutes away from Scout Shops and Unity Insurance resulting in a hub of Scout related activity in West Sussex!

Travel Places all began in 1976 after it was established by Bob Warren, and now 40 years later it remains in the family being mainly managed by his two sons Matt and Nick with Bob keeping an eye on them! There are over 60 employees based in their Worthing office working on events such as F1 Grand Prix’s, Volvo Ocean Race, America’s Cup, Olympics and Paralympics, Soccer World Cup plus many more. We really are like one big family, often heading out on TP Socials such as bowling, crazy golf and beach volleyball and of course the work Christmas party is the highlight of our social calendar!

Alongside the various Pro Sports Team Departments operate the Clubs and Schools Department and of course saving the best until last the Scouts Department. Six years ago we took our first UK Contingent group to Kenya for the 13th World Scout Moot in 2010. Since then we have helped 1,000 of Scouts travel around the world for international experiences.

We continue to work alongside The Scout Association helping the UK Contingent travel to a number of key events including –

  • Roverway in Finland (2012)
  • 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan (2015)
  • 15th World Scout Moot in Iceland (2017)

In addition to this we are here to help local and county groups gain access and support to a variety of international opportunities including other international events, cultural exchanges, adventure challenges and community projects.

You will notice that we are different to other travel companies that work with Scout groups – we don’t offer standard packages, everything we arrange is tailor made and bespoke to meet the needs of your group. You really can travel anywhere you want! There are some amazing adventures to be had overseas, so why not consider looking that little bit further for your next trip.

Did you know? Our team is highly knowledgeable with many of us holding our own Scout or Guide volunteer appointments. Despite working closely with the Scouts professionally we are also actively involved in the Scout movement during our leisure time. Members of staff are actively involved in the Scout movement as group leaders, assistant leaders and as support water sport coaches. This combined with our passion about organising fantastic international adventures really is a winning combination!
