The Gold Coast
The Gold Coast is hard to ignore. It truly is ‘a place for everyone’. Only 41 miles South of Brisbane, its 22 miles of world renowned golden beaches include the iconic Surfers Paradise alongside adrenalin inducing theme parks, the lush green expanse of the hinterland and buzz of Main Beach and Broadbeach’s bars and restaurants. There is a new experience waiting for you at every turn.
On the 4th April 2018, over 6,600 athletes will descend on The Gold Coast for the biggest sporting the region has ever seen. The spectacle of 18 sports and 7 para-sports will be a truly extraordinary event, hosted in an astounding location.
Central Gold Coast
The Gold Coast’s central precincts are all about fun, entertainment, nightlife and attractions. The lively quarters of Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Broadbeach and Burleigh attract locals and visitors with their bright lights, nightlife, cool vibe, and popular ‘See and be Seen’ golden beaches. You can easily fill your day with thrill rides, water slides, jet boats, shopping, surf lessons, beach walks or just grabbing a coffee and watching the world go by.
Broadbeach, Gold Coast
Broadbeach with its beautiful beaches, framed by lazy parks is home to weekend markets and weekday yoga classes. Take a wander down the Broadbeach Mall, peppered with roving street artists and alfresco dining offering everything from gourmet delis, to bistros and brasseries.
Northern Gold Coast
A 25 minute drive north from Broadbeach at your at Gold Coast’s famous theme parks. Here the skyline intersected with towers of terror, aqua loops, and roller-coasters. In a 1km radius there are six major themed attractions including Dream World, White Water World, Wet ‘N Wild World, Paradise Country, Warner Bros Movie World and Australian Outback Spectacular – something for the adrenalin junkie in all of us.
Southern Gold Coast
The further south you go on the Gold Coast, the more space you find. Southern precincts of Currumbin, Kirra and Coolangatta are idyllic coastal communities defined by their own individual stretches of sub-tropical coastline. From one of the world’s best surf breaks to some of the Gold Coast’s laziest secluded coves, the southern stretches are an inviting part of Australia’s iconic beach culture.
The Currumbin Valley starts 2kms from Currumbin beach and leads visitors easily into a World Heritage listed rainforest.
Gold Coast Hinterland
Tamborine Mountain sits just 30 minutes west of Surfers Paradise, but it may as well be another world away. This charming mountain village is full of food and wine. Several degrees cooler than the sea-level regions of the Gold Coast, Tamborine Mountain also has a discernibly different culture. Antique toy stores and wineries offering gourmet cheese plates and Devonshire teas create an old-world, European ambience. There’s a strong community feel with dozens of farmers selling fresh produce at roadside stands offering a total escape into a true country lifestyle.
As an event city for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Brisbane is home to the Track Cycling and Shooting events.
The city includes cultural precincts made up of theatres, museums and international cuisine. Its sporting venues, conference facilities, cruise ship terminal, parklands, cafes, laneways and extensive river walks make Brisbane a vibrant metropolitan city and a warm and friendly environment for visitors.
