19th World Veterans Championships Las Vegas 2018

Rising out of the desert like a colourfully-lit mirage, Las Vegas is the world’s capital of gambling, with 24-hour indulgence and glitzy entertainment also reigning. Nowhere throws a party quite like Las Vegas, which has long been known as a centre of decadence that gives plenty of bang for your buck. But in recent years, it has been developing more of a luxury feel, with internationally renowned restaurants and more sophisticated hotels cropping up.

As a fantasy-island escape from the ‘real world’, the self-styled city is almost beyond comparison. The electric frenzy of The Strip flows through the centre of an adult playground of epic proportions. Since gambling was introduced here in the 1930s, Las Vegas has gone through several phases to reach today’s realm of extensive hotel-casino complexes crowding the bright skyline.

Las Vegas now has some of the most spectacular shopping in the world with internationally famous designers at The Crystals , The Forum Shops at Caesars, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, and much much more. And, after all the shopping and entertainment, there are still hundreds of amazing restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Dozens of internationally recognized chefs have restaurants in Las Vegas, with dishes as varied as the accolades they receive.

Many of the more preposterously themed hotels in Vegas pay homage to notable locales around the world that would seem tacky anywhere else . You want Paris and the Eiffel Tower? Try Paris Las Vegas. Venice? There are gondolas at St. Mark’s Square at the Venetian. Head to Bellagio for a replica of Italy’s Lake Como. The Big Apple? New York New York has the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park and much, much more. Such is the magic of Las Vegas. The largest, most famous hotel-casinos are worlds unto themselves with gambling, accommodation, shopping, dining, circuses, and theme parks all rolled into one.

When cut loose in one of these self-contained emporiums, visiting rookies can lose all sense of time and space. It might be midnight or midday – the party doesn’t stop. Complimentary drinks are offered to gamblers, and the roulette wheel spins from dusk ’til dawn. There’s invariably a group of stragglers or early risers propping up the bar, while cabaret performances and clubs run late into the night.

However, there’s more to the city than hedonistic nightclubs and blackjack tables. Venture away from The Strip, and Vegas hosts top-notch art galleries, heritage museums and jaw-dropping nature. A trip to the Grand Canyon is a must for any visitor to Las Vegas only 2 hours drive away or shorter by one of the many helicopter scenic tours.

Vast, majestic, beautiful and the gateway to the National Parks, the Grand Canyon is one of the worlds, most recognisable landmarks, it stretches 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide in places, Arizona’s natural wonder will definitely amaze you. Explore on foot or admire from above, your idea of grand will never be the same again. But the truth is, you’ll always be drawn back to the city’s modern-day pleasure palaces. After all, this is Sin City.
