In the summer of 2018, from July 23rd to August 2nd, Scouting Nederland will hold the 2018 edition of the Roverway. This will be a challenging international event for European guides and scouts between the ages of 16 to 22. About 3,000 Rovers and Rangers will participate in the Roverway, coming from over twenty countries.
The main section of Roverway Camp will be held in the centre of the Netherlands at the new International Dutch Scout Centre Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde. This International Scout and Guide Centre of 70ha is located in the Province of Flevoland, on land that was reclaimed from the sea half a century ago, near the site of the 18th World Jamboree of 1995
The participants will be divided into international teams, with whom they will participate in the Path of their choice. These Paths are located throughout the Netherlands. After the Path, the participants travel to International Scout and Guide Centre Zeewolde where the central camp will take place for another few days.
The motto of the Roverway 2018 is ‘Opposites Attract’. This motto is visually indicated by the signpost on their logo. Both the signpost and the international ‘Y’ icon depict the Paths, which are an essential part of the Roverway 2018 program. The water and ‘Lelievlet’ - a typical Dutch Sea Scouts sailing boat - reflect the fact that we would like to offer a sailing experience to every Rover or Ranger during our stay at the International Scout and Guide Centre in Zeewolde.
The colours are based on the national Rover and Ranger age section badge, where blue stands for the world as exploration base and orange stands for the Dutch national identity and the Royal House of Orange. In addition, orange is the national ‘section colour’ for Rovers and Rangers in The Netherlands. The three points of the logo represent the three educational objectives (Character, Curiosity & Career).
