Scouting started in the Republic of Mongolia after the fall of the communist regime in 1990 at the initiative of a group of young Mongol students who created the first Scout troops in Ulaanbaatar, in early 1991. The national Scouting organization of Mongolia was founded in 1992.
Although TSA did not send an official UK Contingent several groups from the UK travelled to Mongolia and were coordinated by one point of contact, Dick Griffiths the Global Adviser for the Asia Pacific Region at TSA. Many of the groups that attended booked their travel arrangements with Travel Places and alongside Dick Griffiths organised a briefing day prior to their departure.
