Giving Back with Guild Care
In August, a team of Travel Places volunteers swapped travel planning for popcorn scoops and gazebo building as we spent the day supporting Guild Care’s Open Air Cinema event in Worthing.
As a certified B Corp, giving back is an important part of who we are. That’s why every member of our team receives a paid volunteering day each year to support charities and community projects that make a difference locally.
Guild Care provides vital support for older people, people living with dementia, children and adults with learning disabilities, and carers across West Sussex. Their Open Air Cinema event helps raise funds for these essential services, so we were delighted to lend a hand.
From setting up gazebos and the giant cinema screen during a heatwave to scanning tickets, selling popcorn and raffle tickets, and helping behind the bar, our team got stuck in wherever they were needed. In true Travel Places style, there was plenty of teamwork, lots of laughter, and even a few newly qualified gazebo experts by the end of it!
With lots of event volunteers coming from Travel Places, it was incredibly rewarding to know that our support helped make the screenings possible and contributed to a fantastic week of screenings for the local community.
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, and to the fantastic Guild Care team for organising such a brilliant Worthing event. We’re proud to have played a small part in helping raise money for a cause that supports so many people across West Sussex.
