Travel Places MD, Matt Warren, announced as judge at Leaders in Sport Awards

Travel Places Managing Director, Matt Warren, has been announced as a judge at this year’s Leaders in Sport Awards, run by the premium conference and content platform for the professional world of sport.

Returning for its seventh year, the Leaders awards recognise the companies and individuals who are shaping the future of sport.

Travel Places Managing Director, Matt Warren, joins over 50 senior executives on this year’s judging panel who are tasked with the role of recognising and discovering the individuals and organisations driving sport forward. Other industry figures on the panel include Kelly Simmons OBE, FA Director of the Women’s Professional Game and Rob Bloom, Chief Marketing Officer at Aston Martin F1 team and Philip Bernie, Head of TV Sport at BBC Sport. The full judging panel can be seen on the awards website.

This year’s awards are split into categories, with nominations available for five ‘Company’ categories, three ‘Purpose’ categories and the Leaders Under 40 Award. Nominations for the ‘company’ category – which include content creation, fan experience and sponsorship awards – close on 27 May 2022, whilst nominations for the ‘purpose’ category, which includes community and sustainability awards, opens on 30 May and runs until 17 June 2022.

Travel Places is sponsoring the Sustainability category for the second year. This award looks to celebrate organisations that use sport as a catalyst to promote and combat environmental and ecological issues within society. As a leading ambassador for sustainability within the group travel sector, this award is a natural fit for Travel Places and we are looking forward to seeing some of the incredible efforts from the sports industry to help deliver real sustainable change.

Since we announced a Travel Places partnership with Leaders in 2021, we have been supporting both the team as well as event attendees with their travel and accommodation requirements across a calendar of events. We also had the pleasure of presenting the inaugural ‘Leader in Sustainability’ award in 2021, which was won by Extreme E for the work they do to deliver motorsport events sustainably, beating fierce competition from Southampton FC, Formula E, Formula 1 and Run for the Oceans.

Winners of the Leaders in Sport awards 2022 will be announced as part of Leaders Week, a series of events between 26 to 29 September that will gather the biggest names in global sport business at Twickenham Stadium in London. Held at the Natural History Museum, the awards night will take place on 27 September 2022.
