Travel Places announces growth as recruitment drive continues

Travel Places has announced an increase in workforce figures against pre-pandemic levels. Following a period of unprecedented business growth, we continue to ramp up our recruitment and seek new talent to support the rise in demand for our services.

As the leading travel management company for the sports, media and entertainment industry, our clients include some of the world’s leading teams, organisers and sports professionals competing in events such as Formula One, FIFA World Cup and the Olympics and Paralympics, as well as musicians that include Brit award winner, Becky Hill.

Based on the South coast in Worthing, West Sussex, we currently employ 65 people across a range of business areas, from travel consultants and event managers, to support staff in marketing and accounts. A recruitment drive launched at the start of the year has seen us welcome 20 new people across a variety of teams, increasing our staffing resource well above pre-pandemic levels. With further growth planned, we are now looking to ramp up recruitment once again, with additional roles being developed over the next six months.

Matt Warren, Managing Director at Travel Places, explains why new resource has been so vital for us:

“The appetite for live sports and music events has risen sharply and we are seeing new events emerge this year, as well as more businesses than ever wanting to utilise the expertise of a travel management company to help navigate the complexities of post-pandemic travel. We also expanded into the music and entertainment sector in 2021 and created a new division. The result of all of this is that our teams are busier than ever. Increasing our workforce is fundamental, not only to enable us to meet this new business, but to ensure we are retaining the unique personal service that we are so proud of.”

Matt added:

“The growth in our business is a really positive sign for the future of our industry and we feel fortunate to be in a position to provide travel industry opportunities to high calibre experienced candidates, as well as industry newcomers. Our new talent development programme will continue to support us at a time when recruitment into the industry is facing some huge challenges.”

In return, we provide fantastic opportunities for growth and development within our business, with an extensive training programme, the chance to support some of the most prestigious sporting and entertainment events across the globe, travel opportunities and salary-sacrifice schemes such as ‘cycle to work.’

Our high staff retention is testament to the culture we have built at Travel Places, which is one of mutual respect, friendship, and teamwork. We are proud of our heritage and are family-owned and run to this day.

Events Consultant, Lewis Green, who joined Travel Places in June from a major hotel chain, said of his experience in the role so far:

“Having worked with Travel Places in my previous role, I was really excited to see ‘behind the scenes’ when I joined. Getting to know the team, the office and the operations of the company has been incredibly interesting, and I have found everyone to be exceptionally accommodating in helping me learn the ropes.

“The office has an excellent energy, and a professional atmosphere that encourages a motivating and focused working environment, and the hybrid working arrangement allows for flexibility that is really valued. I’ve been supported with taking on new responsibilities, and while I’m still learning something new every day, the knowledge and resources provided during my induction have got me up and running and I already feel effective in my role. I’ve enjoyed learning about the incredible events that Travel Places supports, and I am really looking forward to travelling on-site for the first time this week.”
